The challenges of quality inspection are complex and multifaceted. During the production, assembly or inspection process, companies are constantly striving for excellence in quality.
More than half of these quality checks rely on meticulous visual inspections to ensure that components are positioned correctly and have the ideal shape, color and texture, as well as being free of imperfections such as scratches, holes, cracks, etc.
Automating these visual inspections represents a considerable challenge, given the extent of the checks, the diversity of the products and the location, as these inspections often have to be carried out in places that are difficult to access. Defects and problems can arise anywhere and at any time, varying in size, making the task even more complex.
In this scenario, IBM Maximo® Visual Inspection stands out as an advanced computer vision platform with embedded artificial intelligence, providing analysis at the desired frequency and with excellent accuracy.
Part of the IBM Maximo Application Suite, this automated visual inspection system operates without interruption, monitoring assets 24 hours a day, every day of the week. Capable of identifying defects in fractions of a second, it revolutionizes inspections, optimizing time and reducing costs exponentially!
Using Watson's advanced learning, IBM Maximo Visual Inspection is a tool designed to automate and improve visual quality inspections.
Customers can send images of products at different stages of production, both normal and defective, to a "centralized learning service" in the tool itself. This service is able to develop sophisticated analytical models that accurately distinguish between Ok (compliant) and Not Ok (Non-compliant) characteristics in parts, components and end products.
When necessary, IBM Maximo Visual Inspection can be configured to identify and classify specific types of defects, enabling a detailed analysis of the causes and facilitating the implementation of effective corrections.
In addition, when it detects a defect or the need for maintenance, the system can automatically open a Work Order in the Maintenance System, directing the task to the team responsible. The completed Order can also be closed only after a new visual inspection confirms the compliance status, or following the flow the company prefers.
The tool stands out for two differentiating aspects: its intuitive interface, which requires no complex programming, facilitating staff training and allowing flexible use on a variety of equipment; and its compatibility, which allows integration with any asset management system, such as IBM Maximo Visual Inspection.
This means that even if the company uses another maintenance system, it can incorporate the advanced functionalities of IBM Maximo Visual Inspection into its asset management. In addition, applications such as IBM Maximo Mobile and IBM Monitor, which performs online condition monitoring, can also be connected to IBM Maximo or any other maintenance system.
