What is Industry 4.0?
Some professionals know the subject well, others are just beginning to understand it better. The first idea that comes to mind is, we need sensors, so they immediately think of the Internet of Things (IoT).
IoT is part of Industry 4.0, but it doesn't make sense on its own!
Industry 4.0 is a set of connected concepts and technologies, which, used in a company with a team prepared for the new revolution, brings information online, generates historical data and predicts actions for efficiency, improved performance, productivity, intelligent asset management and reduced costs and downtime!
A lot, right?
Yes, a lot! But does putting sensors in one part of the plant help?
Depends.... Where are your sensors sending messages? Or does someone from the team have to go to the asset, collect information, then enter it all into a spreadsheet, which goes to a back office and joins it with many others and generates a report? If the answer is yes, I'll tell you.
Start with the basics, but think big!
It doesn't matter how big or small your company is, asset management isn't about opening maintenance tickets, and a ticketing system, where you have registered the assets, doesn't manage them, it manages the time it takes to correct problems, and that's what you and the company will do if you think about it in this way.
An intelligent asset management system needs to support you and give you the tools to manage work, service, assets and inventory. It must be prepared to integrate with the ERP, to request the scheduled purchase of parts and equipment, have integration with BI, and versions for online alerts of intermittencies and predictability of occurrences, machine learning, Artificial Intelligence and good historical background and experience in many types of plants.
At https://aquarelle.com.br/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/PHOTO-2022-06-09-18-39-14.png, we are an IBM Partner and we recommend IBM MAXIMO, the best asset management system, used all over the world, with more than 3 decades of history. All users, whether from small, medium or large companies, in Brazil, the Americas, Europe, Africa or Asia, all have the same opinion. IBM MAXIMO is efficient, robust, reliable and ready for Industry 4.0.
Of course, there are companies that are further along on this journey and others that are still in the implementation phase.
But that's okay, the important thing is to start at the beginning, with asset management, and then define which assets are to be sensed and integrate them by sending this information to the system.
When you have completed this step, you can move on to the next steps.
What has to be part of your plan is that everything you have in the company will generate 1 or more data. The premise is that an asset has an average of 3 to 5 sensors generating information, this is data, which generates meta data and needs to be combined and used, through analytics, BI, Dashboards and other management tools.
And get used to it, the plants will be managed by a small group of people, because the system will provide the inputs for decision-making and others it will make itself.
Empower your team! They have to be involved and familiar with the technologiesThe more flexible, the more the team grows, the more resistant, the more work and rework.
Study!
Study? Yes, learn, ask questions, take part in events, read up on technologies and never think you know everything, be open to learning! It's a new time, all professionals will have to learn a little more and retrain!
Studies say that by 2025, companies will already be in Industry 4.0! Are you ready? Do you need support?
